Pastoral Counseling is available to anyone
who seeks it. The Rev. Dr. Douglas McArthur, our senior pastor,
is certified in pastoral psychotherapy and marriage and family
counseling and has a doctorate in pastoral counseling.
The Missions and Outreach Committee supports
many local social and spiritual ministries, both financially
and in hands-on opportunities for members. In supporting food
banks, homeless shelters, and in working with Covenant to Care
Inc. to serve the children in our community, we aim to reach
out in love with deeds.
Commission on Children and Poverty develops partnerships
and programs, such as a tutoring and mentoring program at the Stamford
Haitian Community Center, to improve the lives of children in our
community.
The First United Methodist Church Mothers’ Group is
an ecumenical organization whose purpose is to provide education,
support, and friendship to mothers in the community. As women and
mothers we share delightful opportunities and challenges. The Mothers’ Group
provides different forums for members to share their experiences
and to learn from each other. We strive to extend the FUMC
missions, share a sense of mission and outreach with our children,
and foster a lifelong commitment to giving back to our community.

United Methodist Women continues the long tradition
of women in ministry and mission in the church, the community and
the world. Through fund raising activities such as its semi-annual
tag and rummage sales, UMW supports various local and global ministries.
UMW facilitates the spiritual growth of its members by offering
women's worship services, book studies and special programs. UMW
also offers fellowship opportunities throughout the year, such
as the Advent Service and Supper. UMW members minister to families
and friends by providing refreshments following funeral services,
in addition to providing lunch monthly to New Covenant House Soup
Kitchen. UMW welcomes and encourages all women of the church to
participate.

"If You Can" - All of us can help and make the world a better place. A few thoughts to consider...
Christmas in April gives us the chance to roll
up our sleeves and put our faith to work by "adopting" a
house in our community as part of a national program that helps
homeowners in need.
