Rev. Dr. Douglas A. McArthur, Senior Pastor
Dr. McArthur, an ordained elder in full connection in the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church,
has served in ministries in Westchester and Nassau Counties, NY, and
in Fairfield County, CT for the past 18 years. He earned a Master of Divinity
degree from Union Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral
Counseling from Andover Newton Theological School.
Dr. McArthur also received graduate
certificates in Pastoral Psychotherapy and Marriage and Family Counseling
from Blanton-Peale Graduate Institute. Prior to his ordained ministry,
Dr. McArthur was a missionary for three years in Iwakuni, Japan. He is
married to Eileen Birchett McArthur and they have three children.
Sara Ofner, Interim Assistant Pastor for Congregational Nurture
Sara recently graduated from Yale Divinity School with a Master of Divinity degree, and is pursuing ordination in the United Church of Christ. Previously, Sara has served churches in Colchester and New Haven, CT, and has served as a Chaplain at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She has also worked in the non-profit sector in New Haven, Los Angeles, and Boston.
Prior to her work in ministry, Sara received a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Millikin University and a Master of Music degree in Early Music Performance from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA.
Patricia Grimm, Director of Music and Organist
Pat has served congregations through music ministry for more than 25 years. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Sacred Music from Duquesne University, a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Kent State University, and a Master of Music degree in Collaborative Piano from the Hartt School of Music. She is currently completing Ph.D studies in music history and music theory at the University of Connecticut. She also holds the Choir Master certification from the American Guild of Organists..
In addition to serving in music ministry, Pat is a founding member of the Cypress Piano Quartet and is an active freelance accompanist and chamber music performer. She and her husband Al have two sons and a daughter-in-law and have called Connecticut home since 1993.

Council on Church Ministries - Anthony Harris, chair
This is the chief decision-making body of the church
to which all other boards and committees are responsible. Membership is
comprised of chairs of boards and committees as well as several members-at-large
representative of the congregation
Missions/Outreach Commission - Pam Drago, chair
Helps our church reach out to the spiritual,
physical and emotional needs in our city, state, nation, and world through
our financial giving as well as through hands-on opportunities.
The Commission on Children and Poverty - Rohini DeSilva and Marcia Kallon, co-chairs
Develops partnerships and programs, such as a mentoring
program at the Stamford Haitian Community Center, to improve the lives
of children in our community.
Liturgical Arts Commission - Tara Wilson and Mary Ann Kennedy, co-chairs
Works with the pastor, director of music and organist
to plan and provide meaningful worship services on Sundays and special
occasions.
Adult & Family Ministries Committee - Laura LaSpalluto, chair
Provides for the educational and spiritual needs
of the adults of our congregation through Bible studies, prayer groups,
book studies, discussion groups, lectures, workshops, and retreats.
Education Commission - TBA, chair
Works with Sunday School Superintendent to plan,
promote, and provide programs that help our children, youth and adults
grow spiritually in the knowledge and love of God.
Membership and Evangelism Commission - Jackie McLean Markes and Delores Burgess, co-chairs
Attracts visitors to the church and encourages
them to unite with our church by transfer or profession of faith, and
then helps them get involved in our congregation's life.
United Methodist Women - Cheryl Kendall, President
United Methodist Women raises funds
which support local and global ministries for women and children; nurtures
individual spiritual growth through special programs and worship services;
provides "hands-on" support to ministries such as New Covenant
House Soup Kitchen and offers fellowship opportunities throughout the
year. All women of the church are welcome and encouraged to participate.
United Methodist Men - Paul Welch, President
Meets for fellowship and service projects to the church and community.
Lay Leader - Douglas Penn
Associate Lay Leader: Elizabeth Outlaw
The lay leader is the primary lay representative
of the laity in the local church to foster awareness of the role of the
laity both within the congregation and through their ministries in the
home, workplace, community, and world, and finding ways within the community
of faith to recognize all these ministries.
Board of Trustees - Greg Chann, chair
The Board of Trustees shall have the supervision, oversight, and care of all real property owned by the local church and of all property and equipment acquired. In addition the Board of trustees shall receive and administer all bequests made to the local church; and administer the endowment funds.
Finance and Stewardship Committee -
Larry Morse, Finance co-chair; and Lisa Flaig, Stewardship chair
This committee educates members regarding stewardship
of God''s resources and solicits members and friends for pledges to our
annual campaign. It also establishes a budget for ministry, presents it
to Charge Conference for approval or amending, and monitors cash flow
through the year.
Staff-Parish Relations Committee -
Suzanne Brown Peters, chair
Functions as the Church's personnel committee
and helps to ensure that the necessary staffing is available to provide
for our program needs. Annually reviews and recommends the salaries and
benefits for all employed staff and works to maintain optimum working
conditions and relationships between staff and the congregation.
